Taking the Time

I would like to take this time to write about my appreciation for all mothers out there in the world right now. I came across some data from the Center for American Progress which stated “84.4 percent of black mothers were primary, sole, or co-breadwinners in 2017, compared with 60.3 percent of Latina mothers and 62.4 percent of white mothers.” This is a surprising statistic that shows how important women our to not only our households but to our society. These mothers are raising the next generation of adults, keeping children out of foster homes. I have only witnessed some of the struggles that single mothers go through in order to make a household so instead of me pointing out all of the reasons we should feel sad about what these mothers have to go through I would like to point out that we need to take a moment to realize and appreciate what the good and selfless deeds these mothers are contributing to our society.

Thank you to all mothers out there. Everyday is a day for you to be appreciated and recognized. May your children utilize all of the opportunities you work so hard to provide for them.
